POTTERY

My name is Nancy and I am both a Chicago potter and a dog mama to Gus, Lilly & our new puppy Geno. As a person who functions through life by a constant, never ending check off list, pottery has been the only art form that has made me enjoy the present moment. I am inspired by music, design & elements in nature. My focus is to create unique, functional pieces that could be used in everyday life. Made for people who are not into mass consumption but appreciate the individual art form.

The birth of SIXWIX candles came at the onset of Covid & needing a creative outlet while my studio was closed. The name was derived from keeping a safe 6-foot distance during the pandemic.

I dabbled then became obsessed with the understanding of how to make candles. Testing wicks, waxes & containers led to several late night evenings. I decided on glass containers that could easily be cleaned out & re-purposed, wicks that are cotton braided & lead-free, FO's (fragrance oils) that are non-toxic & 100% soy wax that is clean burning & biodegradable.
